Philippine Navy
Surface Combatants | Undersea Fleet
The modern Philippine Navy has a decided focus on control of its vast shorelines, the focus being placed squarely on Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) types - these make up over 70% of fighting strength. More recent additions arriving from South Korea are a pair of fighting frigates and the corvette fleet is set to expand some. The OPV fleet is a mix of various foreign types with hull ages ranging from a few years to well over forty. The service also has a healthy number of amphibious assault / support vessels on which to call on including several relatively new arrivals from both Australia and South Korea.
